The manager of a Holton convenience store is facing charges.
Holton Police Chief Gayle Gakle says 41-year-old Robyn Edwards of Netawaka, manager of the Jumpstart Fuel Station located at 917 West 4th Street, was arrested Wednesday on charges of theft and obstruction following an investigation.
Gakle says officers from the Holton Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to an alarm at the business around 3:20 Wednesday morning.
During an investigation, it was revealed that the front doors had been pried open to gain entry and unknown items taken.
After an initial investigation, the management was asked to do an inventory of the store to determine what was missing. About 20 minutes later, Gakle says the management advised several packs of cigarettes were missing. Then about 40 minutes later, he says the management reported finding additional cigarettes had been taken along with $550 cash from one of the store’s safes.
During the initial investigation, Gakle said officers had noted that both store safes were locked and hadn’t been tampered with.
Following questioning, he says it was determined that the manager had allegedly taken money from the safe for her personal use.
Edwards was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail. She was later released on bond.
