Unlike the first round when Holton fell behind 5-0 and faced their biggest defecit of the year, the Lady Cats jumped to an 11-0 against familiar foe Ottawa in the semifinals on Friday in Salina. After leading 16-4 at the end of 8 minutes, Holton withstood a couple Cyclone rallies and went to the locker room up 34-22. Holton never gave up a double-digit lead in route to their 51st straight victory and 4th win against Ottawa in two years. Ryann Bowser continued a stellar state tourney with 16 points, making two trifecta's and all four free throws. Jayna Smith added 15 while the Miller girls combined for 17 as Holton advanced to the championship game for the fourth time ever and third in the last five years. The Lady Cats now face perrenial 5A power McPherson in the 4:00 PM Championship Saturday, live on 103.9 FM and www.mscnews.net
