Atchison County Elementary School teachers paid a visit to the pioneers of the Pathways to Reading program this week.
They visited James Lewis Elementary School in Blue Springs, Missouri, where the program was designed over 10 years ago by Terri Kleinfelter.
Pathways to Reading is a Teacher Professional Development Training Program and reading curriculum for beginning readers in grades K through two and struggling readers in upper grades. The reading curriculum is comprehensive including manuals, lesson plans, assessments, and small group and large group instruction strategies.
ACES Principal Lisa Brookover says the teachers took away some new techniques in preparation for the beginning of their training in March.
Brookover RT: :43 OC: "…word together."
The focus of the program is to help teachers implement the five core components of the reading process: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.
