Animal Avoidance Blamed For Injury Wreck

(KAIR)--A single vehicle, Thursday afternoon Atchison County crash sends an Effingham woman to the hospital.

According to a report from the Atchison County Sheriff's Office, 59-year-old Iris Johnson was westbound on 274th Road, near Greeley Road, when she swerved to miss an animal. She overcorrected, which sent her vehicle off the road, where it struck a fence post, a tree, and a carport, at 9524 274th Road.

Johnson was transported by Atchison County EMS to Mosaic Life Care, in Saint Joseph, for the treatment of her injuries.

The wreck happened shortly before 4:00.
