(KLZA)-- The City of Tecumseh has earned recertification from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Leadership Certified Community Program.
The DED news release says City officials were recognized Tuesday by DED Business Development Consultant Deb Eggleston.
Tecumseh was Nebraska’s first-ever Leadership Certified Community, having first earned the honor in 2011. The program is designed to help smaller communities adapt to ongoing changes and opportunities in economic development. The certification is valid for five years.
City Clerk Lisa Beethe said the city continues to be proactive in preparing for future needs of the community by planning and budgeting for necessary improvements.
Tecumseh has completed phase one of a downtown revitalization project to remodel the Courthouse Square. A $416,000 water main project was funding through block grants. In addition, the community will receive $5-million in Transportation Enhancement funds from the Nebraska Department of Roads to replace infrastructure, restore brick streets and install historical lighting. The City will provide a 20% funding match for the projects.
