(KAIR)--An Atchison man goes to jail in connection with a theft that occurred at the beginning of the month.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says it was on Aug. 1 that a 58-year-old victim reported the theft of a controlled substance and a cell phone from his apartment in the 1200 block of N. 6th Street.
“The suspect now in custody, 29-year-old Brandon Mottin, was an associate to the victim and had been to that apartment,” Wilson said.
Officers were responding to an unrelated call around midnight Sunday morning when Mottin was discovered at the residence and taken into custody on the Aug. 1 charges.
Wilson said the controlled substance Mottin took was fentanyl patches.
Mottin, facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and theft, was booked into the Atchison County Jail.
