(KAIR)--A major announcement timed with Atchison's 20th annual Amelia Earhart Festival, was made Saturday.
It was revealed that the last remaining Lockheed Electra L-10E airplane, the type flown by the famed aviatrix, is coming to stay in Atchison.
That word is outlined in a Facebook page dedicated to the plane, named “Muriel,” with the announcement made public by Festival Chair Karen Seaberg. "A small group of investors...have purchased this plane. Her plane will be coming to Atchison and we are going to raise money for a museum for this plane."
Muriel is owned by Grace McGuire.
According to the Facebook page dedicated to the honor, the plane is one of 14 ever created, and will be brought to Atchison from California in the near future.
