(KAIR)--An altercation at a Valley Falls nursing home leaves one man injured and another in custody.
Booked into the Jefferson County Jail early Wednesday morning was 56-year-old Floyd Phillips, who faces numerous charges, including aggravated battery, in connection with the case.
It happened at the Valley Health Care Center, located at 400 12th Street, in Valley Falls. “We responded to a report of a battery,” Valley Falls Police Chief Bronson Campbell told MSC News. “The officer arrived on scene, and that two parties had already been separated by the staff there.”
Campbell says as the victim was being treated in an ambulance that had been called to the scene, the officer sought out the suspect, identified as Phillips. “The suspect allegedly took a swing at the officer and a scuffle ensued and the officer was able to get him into custody.”
The victim, whose name is not made public, was apparently transported for hospitalized treatment of injuries. “The victim at least had a broke jaw and a broken nose,” Campbell said.
Phillips was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a number of charges, including aggravated battery, battery on a law enforcement officer and interference with a law enforcement officer.
