(KAIR)--The Christmas season got a touch merrier for seven Atchison-area organizations, all selected as recipients of a local fund raising effort.
That came through the efforts of the members of the Atchison-based River Cities Community Credit Union.
According to a press release from the credit union, more than $1,000 was raised through the donations, with funds provided to the local Humane Society, the Salvation Army, the Atchison County Food Pantry, Doves, the Atchison Boys and Girls Club, Achievement Services, and the credit union's warmth tree.
Bags of hats, scarves, and gloves, along with food for Christmas Boxes, were also provided to the Salvation Army to assist those in need this holiday season.
River Cities Credit Union serves the counties of Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson and Leavenworth.
