Nebraska Ranks in the Top Ten Healthiest States
12/20/2015

(AP)--Nebraska ranks in the top ten healthiest states in the country in the latest "America’s Health Rankings" report. Dr. Rhonda Randall, spokeswoman for the United Health Foundation, says Nebraska placed 10th among the 50 states this year, the same place the Husker State was last year.

The report is composed from a host of data in 34 different categories. Despite the top tier ranking, Randall says Nebraska could still improve in several areas. Those include a high prevalence of excessive drinking, and low immunization coverage for adolescents.

Nebraska excelled in several categories, including the low prevalence of low birthweight babies and few poor mental health days. Also, Nebraska ranked number-two in the nation for high school graduation rates.
