KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Maryville woman was sentenced to 8 1/2 years in federal prison for an unsuccessful plot to have the wife of her ex-boyfriend killed.
Kristina M. Swinford, was sentenced Thursday for interstate solicitation of murder.
Prosecutors say in August 2014, a witness told law enforcement that Swinford was talking about wanting the woman dead. Federal authorities arranged for an agent posing as a possible hit man to meet Swinford three times. She also negotiated on Facebook with another person, without realizing it was the intended victim, who had created an online profile under another person's name.
Swinford had a brief affair with the intended victim's husband when the couple was separated. When the couple reconciled, they reported being stalked by Swinford and got orders of protection against her.
