(KAIR)--An Olathe man, arrested in Atchison after robbing a Weston bank in October of last year, is going to prison.
30-year-old Marcus Moon was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to 11-years and three-months in federal prison without parole.
According to a press release from Tammy Dickinson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Moon pleaded guilty August 11th to armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. During the plea, Moon admitted that he stole more than $26,000 from the Bank of Weston on October 22nd, 2014.
Moon was apprehended after he tried to make his getaway by crossing the Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge from Missouri into Kansas. Atchison Police, notified by Platte County, Missouri authorities about the pursuit of Moon, were waiting. However, he managed to initially escape, crashing into police vehicles, in his attempt to flee.
A pursuit through Atchison followed, with Moon soon finding his vehicle stuck in a residential neighborhood, where he was taken into custody by Atchison Police.
