Auburn School Board Updated on Bullying Prevention
12/17/2015

(KLZA)-- The Auburn School District Counselors provided the Board of Education updates on the schools programs to prevent bullying, and dealing with alcohol and drugs this week.

Board policy requires the Counselors provide a report on the bullying prevention and alcohol and drug prevention strategies. An update was also provided on trends the Counselors are seeing among the student body.

The Board did approved recognizing the Auburn Education Association as the group to negotiate a contract for teachers for the 2017-18 school year.

Superintendent Kevin Reiman also provided the Board with notice of intent to extend his contract.  The salary will be discussed later in the school year.  The notice of intent is a required procedural item.

The Auburn School Board is also getting ready to start the bidding process for a roof replacement project at the Auburn School Districts Central Office. The Garland Company is working with the Auburn School District to develop specs for the project.

It is estimated the roof project will cost in the neighborhood of $250,000. Efforts have been made to set money aside for the project. Superintendent Kevin Reiman said the wet weather last spring showed a need to get the project done.

Board members are approved revision of several policies and deletion of several policies during the meeting.
