(KAIR)--An unusual discovery for Atchison County Sheriff's Deputies Sunday night when called to a residence for a reported domestic disturbance between a wife and her husband.
Sheriff Jack Laurie says it happened at 17420 Country Club Road shortly before 11:00. “When the officers arrived, they noticed a pile of clothing that had been set on fire, also some broken windows on a vehicle,” Laurie tells MSC News.
Arrested in connection with the fire and vehicle damage was 27-year-old Laura Randall, of Atchison. She was taken into custody on related charges.
Laurie says the investigation alleges that the clothing, believed to belong to Randall's husband, had been doused with gasoline before being set ablaze outside. The falling rain made quick work of the fire, extinguishing it not long after deputies arrived.
Randall was booked into the Atchison County Jail but was later released on bond.
