(MSC News)--The strong weekend rains have led to the issuance of Flood Warnings across the local area.
That includes the Flood Warning that remains in place for the Missouri River at Atchison, Kansas.
The National Weather Service reports that minor flooding is occurring with additional minor flooding in the forecast.
The river is expected to rise to around 26.5 feet by early Thursday morning, exceeding the flood stage of 22 feet.
Forecasters call for the river to fall below flood stage Friday morning.
The warning remains in place through Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, the Missouri River at Saint Joseph remains under a Flood Warning through Saturday afternoon, while the Flood Warning for the river at Leavenworth will remain in place through late Friday night.
In addition, flood warnings continue along the Missouri River from Nebraska City south through Brownville and Rulo.
At Rulo, the Missouri River reading was 20.4 feet at 10:45 a-m Tuesday, or 3.4 feet above flood stage. Minor flooding in occurring and moderate flooding is expected as teh river is forecast to crest near 21.8 feet early Wednesday afternoon.
The River will fall below flood stage by Friday morning.
Only minor flooding is expected at Brownville and Nebraska City.
