BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - Two adults and a toddler were seriously injured when their camper in a Beatrice park exploded.
Authorities say the family was taken to a Lincoln hospital Thursday after the blast shortly before 6 p.m. Beatrice Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Daake says all three suffered serious upper body burn injuries that are possibly life-threatening. A 2-year-old suffered third-degree burns to the face and a 62-year-old woman suffered third-degree burns throughout her body.
At least half of the camper was affected, with one side blown off.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal was called to Chautauqua Park in Beatrice to investigate the explosion. Daake says authorities aren't yet sure what caused it.
Neighbors say the blast shook their homes.
