Former Hiawatha Attorney Named Interim KDADS Secretary

(MSC News)--A former Hiawatha attorney has been chosen to lead the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services until a permanent replacement is selected.

Named as Interim Secretary is Tim Keck, whose volunteer work in the disability community is noted by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. He specifically cites Keck's time on the Board of Directors for the Brown County Developmental Services, Inc. as a reason for his selection.

Keck will fill the vacancy created by the departure of Secretary Kari Bruffet, effective December 31st.

Keck has served as the deputy chief counsel at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment since 2011, and also serves as chief counsel for the office of the lieutenant governor.

Brownback announced Keck's appointment Thursday, the same day he named Johnnie Goddard as the interim Secretary for the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Goddard, a 30-year veteran of the Corrections system, will temporarily fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Ray Roberts, who ends his 40-year career at the end of the month.

Keck and Goddard will begin their interim positions January 1st, and will serve until Brownback appoints his nominees for the positions.
