(KAIR)--A costly effort.
That's what the financial figures for handling last month's winter weather in Kansas reveal.
Continuous rain mixed with freezing rain and sleet around the Thanksgiving holiday kept road crews busy in the effort to keep roadways clear for safe travel.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the total cost of the work was $3.5 million.
The agency says the price tag reflects the fact that the storm hit nearly every corner of Kansas and lasted for nearly a week.
30,000 hours of labor were included in the effort that required 37,000 tons of material, along with one-million gallons of brine, to keep roads clear of ice.
