12/06/2015

(MSC News)--A Doniphan County native is named as the new Operation Groups Commander for the Missouri Air National Guard's 139th Airlift Wing.

He's John Cluck, a native of  Wathena, who was welcomed to his new role of leadership Saturday.

KQ2-TV reports that happened during an evening Assumption of Command Ceremony at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base. "Today was more about my family and my friends than it was about me. They've supported me through the last 30 years of my military career here, many ups and downs, and this is my chance to pay them back," Cluck told the TV station.

Cluck previously served as the 139th Operations Support Squadron Commander, in charge of one squadron comprised of around 40 members. In his new role, Cluck  assumes control of two additional squadrons, and 300 members.

Cluck joined the Guard when he was 17-years-old.
