(KMZA)--The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the vandalism of four vending machines at businesses in Beattie and Axtell , and is seeking the public’s assistance in solving the crimes.
The sheriff’s department reports the incidents occurred early Monday morning. Two soda pop machines were vandalized at the Beattie Co-op, and one machine each at Ace’s, J & J Food Mart and Little Joe’s Service in Axtell.
The locks were popped off the machines, with the cash taken and some of the contents.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office at 785-562-3141.
Undersheriff Tim Ackerman told the Marysville Advocate he didn’t believe the crimes were linked to the recent thefts of two vending machines in neighboring Nemaha County.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department said both those crimes happened early November 23rd. One theft occurred at 1719 State Highway 9 in Goff and the other from 1189 96th Road in Seneca. Both machines were later found abandoned.
The loss was estimated at more than 35-hundred dollars.
Anyone with information on those crimes should contact the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office.
