(KNZA)--A Hiawatha man has pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated battery in connection with a domestic violence incident in early August, causing injuries to the victim.
26-year-old Michael McCann enter the plea to the felony charge Wednesday in Brown County District Court. In exchange for the plea, a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property was dismissed.
Sentencing was set for January 25th.
McCann was arrested August 15th after he was found hiding out at a Hiawatha residence. Police were able to ping his phone to the residence.
55-year-old John Speckhals, of Hiawatha, has been charged with a felony count of obstructing apprehension for allegedly harboring McCann. A preliminary hearing for Speckhals is set for December 16th. He remains free on bond.
McCann's has posted bond, after it was reduced from $75,000 to $5,000.
