(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Chamber of Commerce has kicked off the Christmas shopping season with its “ Shop Local” campaign, which includes additional prize money this year.
Chamber Administrator Eric Thompson told the City Commission Monday evening that the twenty-four businesses are participating in this year’s Shop Local campaign, which will allow them to give away two $1,000 prizes this year.
Thompson says the campaign began Sunday and runs through 5 p.m. on December 19th.
Shoppers earn tickets for every $10 spent at the participating businesses. There will also be double ticket days. Those include Small Business Saturday on November 28th, and Saturday, December 12th, which is the day of the Hiawatha Chamber’s Christmas Homes Tour. In addition, the participating businesses may choose up to two more “ double ticket days” at their discretion.
The winning ticket numbers will be announced at 7:20 the morning of Monday, December 21st on KNZA radio, 103.9 FM. The winning numbers will also be posted at City Hall, on the Hiawatha Happenings Facebook page, and at participating businesses.
If the winner doesn’t come forward in 24 hours, a second number will be drawn.
Prize winners must spend their winnings at participating businesses prior to December 19th, 2016.
