(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission Monday was updated on a road signage project.
New high-intensity reflective road signs are being installed to meet federal standards.
P.J. Mikulski with St. Paul, Kansas-based Mission Construction Company told the commission the project is currently about $45,000 over budget, and it should cost another $19,000-$25,000 to complete.
Commission Chairman Warren Ploeger said more signs have been installed than what the original plans called for, based on some being in poor conditions and others being stolen.
Brown County was awarded a grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation to pay for the cost of the new signs.
Ploeger was to meet Monday afternoon in Topeka with KDOT officials to discuss the project and find out where the county stands.
Installation of the new signs began in September and Mikulski said they should finish up this week.
