(KNZA)--A head-on collision on K-16 Highway in Jefferson County Monday afternoon left three---including a three-year-old child-- with serious injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Joanne Boschert, of McLouth, was northbound, just south of Fairmount Road, when for an unknown reason she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a car head-on.
Joanne Boschert and her three-year-old passenger, Bailey Boschert, were transported to Topeka’s Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center with what the Patrol described as disabling injuries. The driver of the car, 37-year-old Alze, Texas resident David Benton, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, also with disabling injuries.
The Patrol says Benton was the only one wearing a seat belt, and the toddler was not properly restrained.
The wreck was reported shortly before 3:00.
