City Hall - Pawnee City

(KLZA)-- For their help in saving downtown from even more damage during a structure fire in September, the Pawnee City, City Council has approved a $1,000 donation to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department.

Falls City Volunteer Firemen responded to the mutual aid call with an aerial platform truck that allowed firemen to get up in the air and pump 1,200 gallons of water a minute onto the fire and nearby roofs to keep the fire from spreading to more buildings.

A Fire Fighters Appreciation dinner will be held at 6 p-m on Saturday, October 24th  at the Pawnee City Fire Hall.  All Pawnee County fire fighters, law enforcement personnel, EMT’s first responders and firefighters from neighboring fire departments are being invited to attend by the Pawnee City Fire Department.

Donations are being accepted to cover dinner expenses and help purchase needed fire equipment.

The Pawnee City Council met with Jerry Graham, owner of the buildings destroyed by the fire and the old Locker Building in Pawnee City.  The destroyed buildings are to be cleaned up in 30 days so the Adobe Grill, which has a shared wall with one of the buildings can find out from engineers if it is safe to re-open their business.
