HTRS School Board Updated on Lunch Program and Addition
10/14/2015

(KLZA)-- For several years the HTRS School District has discussed lunch fund balances, with increasing lunch costs and non-payment have been area’s of concern.  The HTRS District is now enforcing an existing policy that can land students on the “Peanut Butter & Jelly List.”

Superintendent Sherri Edmundson says the District is now enforcing an existing policy that when a student is in the negative on the lunch fund, instead of a regular meal, they will be given a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a carton of milk. While it has caused some consternation amongst some parents, the bills are getting paid.

Edmundson says the HTRS District is using an alert system to let parents know well in advance of the kids going on the sandwich and milk list. Three notices are given before a change is made in the lunch.

In other business a laptop computer discipline procedure was approved for the Middle School that mirrors the high school procedure. The Board accepted the resignation of Classified Staff Member Jennifer Anderson who has accepted a job in Auburn where she lives.

An update was also presented on the Humboldt-site addition. Concerns about the amount of lights in the corridors are being addressed and the courtyard space that is now dirt, is being worked on. The Board approved moving ahead with installing a retaining wall in the courtyard area at a cost of around $12,000.

The building addition is to be ready for classes January 1st.
