(KMZA)--The Nemaha County STEP Foundation Board of Directors has announced recipients for the second round of grants for 2015 totaling $37,000.
The first two recipients of grants from the Leonard Ronnebaum Advisory Fund are the Nemaha County Training Center and the Spring Creek Golf Course.
An award of $15,000 will be used to bring a house into compliance with the State Fire Marshall regulations that go into effect when 4-8 people
are being served in an NCTC owned residence.
The Spring Creek Golf Course is planning to add concrete golf cart paths with the $10,000 awarded to them. General Manager Tony Altenhofen says the total cost is over $80,000, so it is hoped that this can serve as a spring board for the rest of the project. Plans are for the project to be completed
by the fall of 2016.
The Nemaha County Historical Society has been awarded a $9,000 grant. The money will be used to replace wooden windows in the historical Nemaha County Jail and Sheriff’s residence. Historical Society President DarlAnn Rial says the total cost of the project is estimated at $40,000, so the society will be seeking other grants and donations to get the project completed.
The city of Centralia has been awarded $3,000 to continue the current park
playground project. The award will help with the nearly $60,000 total cost to add more equipment to the ADA playground.
Grants are awarded twice a year through the STEP Foundation, with the next
deadline being January 15, 2016. Grants are awarded for charitable purposes to enhance and improve the quality of life for the residents of Nemaha County.
