(KNZA)--Papa Smurf is behind bars.
That's the widely used name of Jackson County's most wanted fugitive, Jerry Dean Curlee.
Sheriff Tim Morse says the 56-year-old was captured in Kansas City, Missouri Wednesday in a cooperative effort between the Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals.
Curlee has been on the run since allegedly removing an electronic ankle bracelet.
It was being used to monitor him while he was on house arrest after bonding out of jail for a felony DUI case.
The warrant for his arrest for failure to appear involving a 4th or subsequent DUI was issued in August of this year.
Jackson County Detectives have been working in Kansas City this week in the attempt to locate Curlee.
Now that he's in custody, Curlee is expected to face additional charges.
