(KNZA)--A Holton truck driver is dead, discovered inside his vehicle, in a cornfield, Saturday.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says the driver, identified as 58-year-old Edward Howard Hollingdale, failed to reach his destination in Whiting Saturday, and was presumed missing.
Around 4:00 in the afternoon, the Sheriff's Office received word that a large dump truck pulling a corn hauler trailer had run off the roadway and into a cornfield east of Netawaka, on K-9 Highway, between S and T Roads.
The Sheriff's Office was joined by fire departments from Netawaka, Whiting, and Holton in rushing to the scene. It was there the truck was located deep inside the cornfield with Hollingdale found to be unresponsive. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, Hollingdale was pronounced dead at the scene.
Morse says the truck had been eastbound on K-9 at the time it traveled into the cornfield.
