2016 Atchison County Budget Adopted
09/30/2015

(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has adopted the 2016 budget as published, which contains a nearly 1.2 mill levy increase.

Adoption of the budget followed public hearing during the Tuesday afternoon commission meeting, drawing no comments from the public.

Commission Chair Bill Pohl says there are several reason as to why the mill levy will increase—including an extra pay period, a two percent raise for county employees, a ten to fifteen percent raise in health insurance costs, and added courtroom security.

Commissioners voted 2-1 to adopt the budget, with Commissioner Jeff Schuele casting the lone no vote.
