(KAIR)--There is still time to register to vote for the upcoming Special Election for USD 377's question on their Capital Outlay increase.
According to Atchison County Clerk Pauline Lee, registration for the election will end this (Tuesday) afternoon at 5:00. Books will close and remain closed for the district until after the election takes place on October 6th.
Advance ballots will be mailed out starting Wednesday, with early voting starting at the clerk's office on Monday, and running through October 5th.
If approved, the resolution would give the school board the authority to raise the current capital outlay mill levy of four mills to eight mills, the maximum allowed by state law. The increase would help pay back a recent federal loan recently granted to the district in the form of a $3 million bond.
