(KAIR)--100-years of service was marked Thursday when the Atchison County Farm Bureau Association held its annual meeting.
The ceremony was held at the City Park in Effingham, where past and present presidents, board members, century farm owners, scholarship winners, agents, and others, were recognized.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance was United States Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins. “It's a great celebration to be here, to celebrate their 100th year,” Jenkins told MSC News. “I'm a simple country girl myself from Jackson County, so ag production has always been in my blood, and it is still the number one driver of this economy in the state of Kansas. In Washington we spend a lot of time looking out for ag producers and production agriculture, and we'll continue to do that, but it's great to be here tonight to celebrate with the farmers and ranchers of northeast Kansas.”
Along with the Farm Bureau Association's Business Meeting, including the re-election of board members, the evening included comments from Kansas Farm Bureau President Richard Felts, musical entertainment, and a dinner.
