(MSC News)--Charges are filed against a man that authorities believe to be responsible for a weekend Saint Joseph shooting that left one dead.
KQ2-TV is reporting that the Buchanan County Prosecutor has charged Charles Coats, Jr., with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Jason Ginn.
Police are searching for the suspect who remains at large.
The 32-year-old was shot late Saturday afternoon on South 15th Street near Sylvanie.
The TV station cites a probable cause statement that says Coats and Ginn were involved in verbal argument when Coats allegedly shot Ginn with a handgun numerous times.
The victim died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The probable cause statement also cites Coats' violent criminal history.
Anyone with information related to Coats' whereabouts is urged to notify authorities immediately.
