(KAIR)--Officials with the city of Atchison will be conducting a community workshop in August in order to gather public input on a design for the new dog park.
City Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says the workshop will give city staff a better idea on what residents want to see in the park. “It seemed like a good use of our time to publicize a public meeting when we can get those folks in the community who support the project, who are interested in using the facility once it gets built...dog lovers, really just anybody who wanted to learn more about the project to come together. We will put some of our ideas for the park out on the table, discuss them with folks...everything from animal health concerns to features of the park, all of those types of things we will just hash out in this public meeting, just to give people a chance to kind of have some buy in on this dog park at Fourteenth and Laramie.”
Pregont says fencing for the park has already been ordered and he hopes to have it in place by late summer or early fall of this year.
The workshop will take place in the City Commission room at City Hall on Tuesday evening, August 11th at 7:00.
