(KAIR)--The Effingham USD 377 Board of Education selected it's officers for the coming year during their regular monthly meeting earlier this week.
The Newsleaf reports that Jeff Martin was named President, while Tana Hoffman was named Vice President. New board members, Barbara Chapman, Nancy Keith, and Stephanie Cooper also joined the board.
In other business, Martin informed the board that the published intent to raise the capital outlay mill levy authority another four mills was petitioned. This caused the question to go to a patron vote. The board decided to pursue a mail in ballot, since there is no election scheduled in the near future. Superintendent Steve Wiseman explained the budget process to the board, and it was decided on a 5-1 vote to pursue the publication of a budget using an additional 2 mills of the authority that is hoped will be granted.
