Nemaha and Marshall Co Election Results

(KMZA)--In Nemaha County, voters Tuesday gave overwhelming approval to a  half-cent sales tax increase for 10 years to fund health care services in the county.  The sales tax was approved with 60 percent of the vote. 

In the city of Sabetha, Kenny Miller was elected as Commissioner of Utilities defeating incumbent Rick Koch by a 185-vote margin.

Winning election to the Prairie Hills USD 113 Board of Education were Jim Scoby to position 1; Kathy Lippert to position 3 and Kent Saylor to position 7.

Joe Reitz won election to position 3 on the Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education and Owen Zinke won re-election to position 7

In Marshall County, Carla Grund was elected as the new mayor of Marysville defeating write-in challenger Todd Frye by more than 200-vote margin.

Darlene Boss was elected to the Ward 2 Marysville City Council seat.

Dustin Tryon won a three-way race for mayor of Blue Rapids.

Elected to the Blue Rapids City Council were incumbent Mike Minihan and Doug Whitesell.

All three incumbents won re-election to the Waterville City Council.  They include James Oatney, Tony Mann and Colby Hearn.

In school board races, Lanny Carpenter won a three-way race for election to position 2 on the Marysville USD 364 Board, and Shana Steinlage won a three-way race for position 3 on the Vermillion USD 380 Board.

The results are unofficial until the ballots are canvassed Monday in the respective counties.
