(KLZA)-- A jury trial scheduled to have started Tuesday ( 3/11) for 41 year old Matthew Leaf of Falls City in Richardson County District Court has been continued at the request of his attorney, Richardson County Public Defender Steve Mercure. In seeking the continuance Mercure said he needed more time to prepare for trial.
Leaf is charged with four felony counts of possession of child pornography. Leaf is currently free on bond.
Leaf was arrested October 23, 2014 following an investigation by the Nebraska Attorney Generals Office that began in October 2013. Court documents allege that a computer in Leaf’s Falls City apartment contained numerous images of child pornography.
If convicted, each charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine.
