Richardson Co Commission Approves Road Plan

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners conducted the annual 1 & 6  Year Road Plan public hearing last week.  No one from the public provided input.  Following the hearing the Board approved the plan as presented by Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert. 

Commissioners reviewed a contract with Constructor’s Inc. for an asphaltic concrete overlay project for three miles on 656 Avenue.  The company offered a proposal to the Board for additional work, attached to the current contract for an additional three miles of asphaltic concrete continuing from the current project on the same road for an additional $471,000.  

The Board approved right-of-way documents for the Verdon Northwest bridge project with Shirley Jorn Schuetz and James Schuetz.  

A public hearing was held to declare the Pearson Point Cemetery located approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Falls City abandoned and neglected. Following the hearing Commissioners declared the cemetery abandoned and neglected.  Ron Brown or rural Falls City has agreed to take care of the maintenance of the cemetery.  

Commissioners also approved an interlocal agreement with the Village of Verdon for the County to provide police services to the Village.  

An executive session was held with County Attorney Doug Merz to discuss personnel matters.  The session lasted less than 10 minutes and no action was taken following the closed session.  A week earlier the Board asked the County Attorney to meet with them do discuss grievances filed against Sheriff Don Pounds.
