Richardson County Board Approves Changes in Emergency Management
02/04/2015

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners approved the appointment of Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon has Flood Plain Manager and Radio Communications Coordinator for Richardson County when they met Tuesday. Previously Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert had served as Flood Plain Manger.

Following the action, a discussion was held on funds received from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency. Dixon informed the Board that the current grant included funds for a deputy director, a position that is not currently filled.  Because of that, the County could lose some of the funds that were awarded. Dixon requested an increase in salary for various positions in the Emergency Management Department.  If approved the increases would be included in the grant application for the next fiscal year.

Commissioners approved the staffing changes and salaries in the Emergency Management Agency.  EM Specialist 1’s will be paid $10 an hour. EM Specialist 2’s will receive $12 an hours and EM Specialist 3’s will be paid $15.75 per hour. There will be two EM Specialist 3’s working 35 hours per week.

The Board also approved an additional salary for the Emergency Management Director of $10,712 annually because of the additional duties.  The changes are effective immediately.
