(KTNC)--A vacancy on the Nemaha NRD Board of Directors won't be filled until next year. The board decided this month to declare a seat in Subdistrict 4 vacant and wait until January to consider appointing someone to fill the vacancy.
Subdistrict 4 is in the Nebraska City area. The seat came open with the recent death of NRD Director John Albrecht. Albrecht's term was to expire at the end of December.
The board will begin considering applications for the positon on January 8. Due to changes in state law, the appointment will be for two years and the seat will be up for election in 2016 for another two year term.
