(KTNC)--Firefighters from three departments spent Thursday night battling a house fire northeast of Humboldt.
Humboldt Fire Chief Rex Kappel tells us the fire broke out at about 10:30 Thursday night, at 73770 720 Road.
Kappel says the fire started in a stairwell on the second floor of the two-story home. He says fire caused heavy damage to the second floor, attic and roof of the house, and there was smoke and water damage to the first floor.
Kappel says the fire likely started due to an electrical problem. He describes the house as “almost a complete loss.” All the residents of the home were able to get out of the house without injury.
A dozen firefighters from the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire, along with personnel from the Stella and Auburn Rural Fire Departments. They were at the scene until about 5:30 Friday morning.
