(KNZA)--The preliminary hearing for an Atchison man facing child sex charges in Doniphan County began Tuesday, and will wrap up December 22nd.
The hearing will determine if there's sufficient evidence for Heath Umphenhour to be bound over to Doniphan County District Court on two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.
Umphenhour was arrested in July of last year following an investigation by the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
He remains in the Doniphan County Jail on a half-million-dollars bond.
