(KTNC)--The SENCA Food Pantry will benefit from a Patriot Day cookout.
Falls City Sun Mart manager Martin Leon, his wife Laura, their sons Christian and Alexander, along with Sun Mart employees hosted the cookout over two hours last Tuesday.
SENCA Family Development Specialist Melissa Hardenberger, and members of the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Emergency Management Agency, and Richardson County Sheriff’s Department also helped serve burgers, chips and soda.
Approximately 100 people attended, and donated $355.89 to the SENCA Food Pantry.
The money will be used to purchase perishable items such as dairy products, meat, fresh fruit and vegetables for economically challenged households in Richardson County.
Patriot Day is observed on September 11, as a day of service and remembrance in honor of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
