(KMZA)--The Nemaha County STEP Foundation Board of Directors has announced recipients for the second round of grants for 2014.
The Baileyville-Sacred Heart Park Project was awarded $13,500 to help build a playground park on the grounds of the Sacred Heart Church. A committee has raised additional money from grants and donations. The majority of the grant was provided from the Baileyville Endowment Fund, which was established by the Baileyville State Bank.
Another grant for $5000 to the St. Benedict Ball Association was made possible from funding by the Baileyville Endowment Fund. The grant will help provide improved lighting for the existing facility.
The Sabetha Community Hospital has been awarded a 46-hundred dollar grant. The hospital is planning to open a breastfeeding clinic to provide education and support during and after hospital discharge for breastfeeding moms.
Another 46-hundred grant was awarded to the Seneca Community Television station for technology upgrades. SCTV is a volunteer local television station that provides local broadcasts of sports, city council meetings, school board meetings and many other local activities.
Grants are awarded twice a year through the STEP Foundation, with the next deadline being January 15, 2015.
The grants are awarded for charitable purposes to enhance and improve the quality of life for the residents of Nemaha County. The grants typically fit into one of the five categories: Cultural, Health, Economic, Educational, and Recreational. Applications are reviewed and approved by the STEP Board of Directors.
More information may be obtained from the STEP Foundation, PO Box 165, Seneca, KS 66538 or by visiting www.nemahastep.org or by calling Leslie Scoby at 785-285-1765. All donations are tax deductible.
