(KNZA)--As the South Brown County Schools of USD 430 prepare for the start of the new school year, a new Science and Biology teacher is hired.
Selected to fill the role at Horton High School is Mike Ford, a well known advocate of science education and the Director of the Banner Creek Observatory and Science Center in Holton.
The hiring of Ford happened following an executive session of the USD 430 Board of Education when they met this week.
During the meeting, the Board also gave final approval to the district's budget for the 2014-2015 school year.
Included in the 11.6 million dollar budget is a nearly 6 mill property tax levy drop, with the estimated tax rate of 53.699 mills expected to generate nearly 1.4 million dollars.
