(KTNC)--Falls City Public Schools begin the new academic year on Thursday, with a full day of classes, including pre-school.
The regular school day begins at 8:07 a.m. at Falls City High School and at 8:20 a.m. at North School, South School, and the Middle School. Students should arrive at school 10 minutes before class begins, or earlier if they plan to eat breakfast.
Superintendent Tim Heckenlively notes that the district facilities are in "great shape" after summer maintenance work. Noticeable changes include a refinished High School Gym floor and classroom doors on the second floor at the Middle School.
Open houses are scheduled at all four district school buildings.
At North School, an open house for the Parent-Child Center and Kindergarten will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and an open house for 1st and 2nd grade will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The South School open house will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Teachers will be available in their rooms to meet parents and students.
The Middle School open house is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The High School open house will be from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
