(KTNC)--Humboldt’s water improvement project is finally complete.
The City Council approved the final payment to Ericksen Construction for work on the project at Tuesday’s meeting.
The project, done in conjunction with the Rural Water District, involved developing new wells in Pawnee County to correct a problem with high nitrate levels in the water supply.
Initial tests on the new wells indicate that the nitrate levels are within acceptable levels. Mayor Mike Riley says they plan to have a ribbon cutting ceremony at some point to mark completion of the project.
In other business this week, the Humboldt City Council approved a bid from the Tecumseh Insurance Center for the city’s insurance coverage. Riley says there was a slight increase in health insurance costs.
The council approved a motion to fill cracks in the streets around the Housing Authority and Lake Park with asphalt.
They also approved a request from Nick Novak to paint the stage in the City Park as part of an Eagle Scout project, and a request from the Friends of the Auditorium to hold a dance in the Auditorium on September 13. That is the Saturday during the Richardson County Free Fair.
