(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday approved hiring John Moon III as the Deputy Emergency Management Agency Director for Richardson County. Moon with work with Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon and will be paid an annual salary of $36,000. Moon will begin his job June 10th.
Clerk of the District Court Pam Scott who serves as Chairman of the Health Insurance Committee presented a recommendation to Commissioners to continue providing employees with the current health insurance group plan with the Nebraska Association of County Officials, provided by Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Nebraska. The committee had received informal quotes from another insurance source. The County pays the health insurance for the employee, but the employee must pay the difference if they have family coverage.
Commissioners approved several major purchases during the meeting. The first was a new, 2013 Freightliner truck at a cost of $97,500 to replace the truck involved in an accident May 14th. The Board deemed the lack of a truck at the present time threatened a loss to property of the County and waived the bidding requirements of the County Purchasing Act.
Board members also approved a bid from Masonry Reconstruction for the lamppost pedestal
