(KTNC ) - Two people were injured in a crash on southbound Interstate-29 near Mound City Thursday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 56-year-old Jeffry Behrens of Council Bluffs was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty that went off the road and struck the end of a guardrail at the 86.6-mile marker two miles north of Mound City.
After it hit the guardrail, the Jeep returned to the roadway, overturned once, went off the right side of the roadway and struck another guardrail before going down an embankment into a ravine.
Atchison-Holt Ambulance personnel treated Behrens at the scene for what were described as moderate injuries. A 12-year-old passenger, Rhema Anaya, of Omaha, received minor injuries. Neither Behrens nor Anaya were transported to a hospital, but said they’d seek medical treatment.
Behrens 16-year-old son was also a passenger in the Jeep and was not injured in the crash.
The State Patrol says all three were wearing seat belts.
