(KTNC) -- The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board approved four permits to drill irrigation wells during its meeting last week. Two of the approved wells are in Lancaster County, one is in Gage County, and one is in Richardson County.
The board also approved an agreement with Marilyn Ach to allow irrigation from a structure on Wilson Creek near Lorton.
In other business last week, the NRD Board approved a bid of $4,312 from Jack McNealy of Humboldt to install steps at Iron Horse Trail Lake. The concrete steps will be approximately 50-feet long by six feet wide. They will allow access to the beach area at the lake.
NRD staff will install the handrail for the steps. Work is expected to be complete by mid-May.
The board approved the bid of $2,050 from Stutheit Implement of Auburn of a hydraulic posthole digger attachment for a skid loader.
And the board voted to leave the annual lease with Bartlett Grain on the Steamboat Trace Trail at $600. The lease allows Bartlett to operate an overhead conveyor over the trail and two electric winches on the trail corridor to load and transport grain to barges on the Missouri River.
